One I made for dessert and one came into our yard from the nearby farm.

Carla's Quilt

I just mailed this quilt to Carla. When I talked to her on Sunday, she sounded like she needed the comfort now. So rather than bringing it with us, I finished it and sent it as soon as I could. It's got a flannel backing with a satin ribbon binding so should be "cuddly" and comforting. I picked the colors because they reminded me of Carla. The print has teacups and coffee pots on it so I thought that would remind her of times we've gone to tea in the past.
I added a third picture taken at sunset in the back patio. We've been having really red sunsets the past week, because the volcano's going off again, and the red light on the red ti plant was worth a picture. (By the way, the close-up pic of the quilt was taken in the garden that Ana and Joseph helped me with. Joseph did the dry stream rock work.)
Carla started her gene specific therapy on Saturday. She'll take one pill every day and then be re-evaluated in a month. The hope is that she will develop a rash, that should indicate the medicine is working. Today the rash has appeared! Who knew you'd ever be glad to see a rash??!!

Yo-Yo Along

Because my sewing room isn't set up yet how I want it to be I'm not sewing much. I am hand sewing with a group of bloggers in a Yo-yo along. Here is my progress.

Keeping Portland Weird

We went to Sunday in the Park. A neat neighborhood of Portland was closed to traffic on Sunday afternoon for walkers and bicyclists. Mostly bicyclists. There was a street fair and vendors in the huge hilly park. We had a good time with Amelia and Chris. Lots of bikes but here are three of the strangest. First there are double decker bikes. Then there was the beer on tap bike that they rent out for parties. The last one I don't have a picture of....it was 2 bikes mounted inside something that looked like a huge hamster cage. The two guys leaned way forward and the whole contraption turned over - including them. Quite an experience.
