Shepard Family Photos

We had so much fun spending time with our kids and Clark. Here are some pictures, which include the box train with Grandpa, first time eating with chopsticks and first time using a straw. He was a pro at everything he tried.

Thanks for Being Here!

Hi Everyone! Just a quick entry to say thank you for being here for the wedding AND a huge thank you for all of your help at the reception and with the tear down. You made our job sooooo much easier and we appreciate all you did to help!! Seriously, John would've been there all day taking apart the dance floor :D
We love you all and while we didn't get to spend a lot of time with you, we were glad you were here for Hillary and Daniel's special day.
Yes, we have heard from them via phone. The weather was horrible when they arrived in a thunderstorm but yesterday it was 86 and they swam in the ocean and sunbathed. Guess what? Just about everyone there has the same anniversary date. Whoda thunk it?? Today they go zip-lining with another couple who were married on the 17th.

Pain in the Neck

These are my faithful walking partners, Barbara and Vicki. They came every morning to walk me. We are up to 3 miles a day together. Even though my brace came off today we are starting 4 miles tomorrow. Of course I have had to do my remaining miles on the treadmill but I think we can work up to 5 miles easy enough. What good sports they are! I am thankful for them. That good looking necklace is a BGS (Bone Growth Stimulator).
This is the picture Paul took when I came home from the doctor's office. You can see my scar a little there. My neck is thin but as soon as I build up my strength it will go back to usual. Don't be fooled by the pictures. I have not lost weight. It's trick photography. I'm getting a haircut tomorrow and looking forward to that.

Crystal Cave

On Saturday, my dad, Chris and I drove deep into the Sequoia National Park to see Crystal Cave for the first time. Once we arrived to the parking lot of the cave we had to walk down a half mile to the cave entrance. The walk down is equivalent to 30 flights of stairs...it was steep to say the least. Near the entrance was a gorgeous waterfall worth the walk itself. At the cave entrance we put on our sweatshirts (it is 50 degrees in the cave) , grabbed a flash light and headed in with our tour group of about 50 people.

The cave was very dark and lit up only by flash lights. When looking around the colors were very muted and only when taking photos did I realize the rock was different colors. The pictures do not do that cave justice - it was amazing to walk into a huge room only lit up by about 25 flash lights and see a cave like this for the first time. We saw stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, columns, curtains and more.

Here is a link to the rest of the photos from the cave - enjoy!

(more information about Crystal Cave and Sequoia National Park can be found here)

P.S.
The "newlyweds" are doing well and look forward to passing the title onto Hillary and Daniel!
